Painting ceramic wall sconces

What you need:

• sand paper
• paint
• urethane
• abrasive cleaner
• paint brush
• damp cloth

How to do it:

1. Use a light abrasive cleaner to clean your ceramic sconce. Do a thorough job so all the grease and dirt particles are removed from your light fixture, else the paint won't stick.
2. Take a fine grit sand paper and use it to sand its surface so you get a texture that will help the paint to really stick to your sconce.
3. Take a clean and damp cloth to remove any particles left over from the sanding, such as sanding dust.
4. Using a good quality brush start painting over the sconce with even strokes without pressing too much on the surface. Also avoid any feathering movement at the end of the stroke. If you want your paint to really last for a long time, apply several coating of paint, however wait until the previous paint layer is dry before painting it over again.
5. Once the last paint coating is fully dry, which happens after 2-3 days, use a water based urethane to brush over your ceramic wall sconce a last time so it will add an extra layer of surface protection from peeling, chipping or scratching.
